Marie-Louise Pelus-Kaplan


Marie-Louise Pelus-Kaplan is professor of early modern history at the University Paris 7 – Paris Diderot, UFR GHSS.


Her research focuses on the History of the Hanseatic cities (including Lübeck, Hamburg, Gdansk, Riga), mainly in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, through various and complementary approaches (history of commerce and business, social, political and religious conflicts, culture and mentality , Architecture and urban planning, international relations, relations with the Holy Roman Empire etc). Beyond the Hanseatic cities, Marie-Louis Pelus-Kaplan works on the history of Germany, Central and Eastern Europe, the Netherlands and the United Provinces, Picardy, and the French trade in the (early) modern era.
